"Connecting with other movers can help you build your network, promote your work or source talent and keep you updated on innovations and developments. But maybe more important: you can find like minded people, energy and inspiration in the movement!"

OURR MANIFEESTO

Views

  1. Food is a powerful force that can be used to shape our future.

  2. We need an alternative and future proof approach to producing, cooking and consuming to be able to feed more people in a healthy way with a changing climate.

  3. Cuisine always reinvents itself to express the flavors and concerns of its time and place.

  4. We all need to know and understand our culture and ingredients.

  5. Ghanaian cuisine is beautifully complex and difficult to define but some words that come to mind are: pride, heritage, community, welcoming spirit, joy, colors and diversity.

  6. Food is the ultimate unifier in bringing people together.

  7. Food is simply too valuable to waste.

  8. It all starts at the source: we have to respect our farmers, our soils and our waters.

Intentions

  1. The movement is pragmatic, fun, bold and proud.

  2. We welcome anyone wanting to contribute while being undogmatic in finding different routes to our common goals.

  3. We want to connect everyone along the value chain on this joint journey. Including (but not limited to): Ghanaian farmers, fishers, consumers, cooking craftsmen, industry, journalists, scientists, policy makers...

  4. We will support and connect change makers and future proof initiatives in food.

  5. We will be both an online community and an initiator for offline events and meet-ups.

  6. We want people to appreciate all the work, knowledge and effort that goes into providing even the simplest food.

  7. We want people to understand the interconnectivity of all players in the food system and the need for them to engage in open dialogue and concrete action.

FAQ

Why should I join the movement?

Are you -or do you want to be- active in the food and agri space in Ghana? Looking to connect with innovative and diverse players throughout the value chain… And last but not least, are you excited about Ghanaian food like we are!? Then you should become a supporter! Our ‘supporterships’, as we like to call our memberships start at $20 a year and give you direct access to all these amazing movers (and their knowledge!), free on- and offline network events and possible business opportunities.

For who is the base supportership (Ghanaian/ foreign)?

This is for individuals that want to be a part of the movement, attend our events and exchange with others in our network of food lovers. You will get the network and structure needed to celebrate and redefine Ghana's food system with us. Whether it is by attending our many events, connecting with other like minded people through our platforms or ideating new initiatives that GFM could promote.

What does GFM expect from me as a supporter?

We expect that you want to improve your understanding of food systems, your role in it, and contribute to make a positive change for our common food future. We also expect that you are open to sharing your knowledge, contacts, and experiences with the GFM network.

For who is the start-up supportership?

This is for emerging companies that want to engage and grow with our network and be involved in our events. Start-up supporter can expect a lot of support from our whole supporters base as we love seeing new food businesses grow and thrive. You will also get connected to people with similar experiences which can enable a very valuable exchange. This supportership is for companies that have been active for less than three years and have less than 10 employees.

For who is the company / organization supportership?

This is for companies that want to support and engage with GFM. This supportership gives you channels to promote your business through our events, projects and within our community. As a company you also contribute to the impact GFM has and the good values we promote together.

For who is the fan supportership?
The fan supportership is a very special supportership for those looking to support our endeavors of promoting a healthier, sustainable, and equitable food system in Ghana while also gaining access to our unique network of (young) pioneering stakeholders throughout the food chain and innovations happening in Ghana. You share our values and believe in what we do, and you want to encourage us to keep up our hard work.
