REGISTERED NGO ✊🏽
Ghana Food Movement (GFM) is registered as a non-profit organization, as of 2021. Its two directors are Abdallah Smith and Kwame Obed Fia-Foli. GFM's management team consists of five other builders including the two directors and founder Lotte Wouters. The management team's role is to handle the day-to-day of the organization, apply for funding, design new projects and steer the movement toward its goals. Primarily, this goal is to highlight Ghanaian ingredients and cuisines' potential to drive social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
DECISION MAKING 🗳
When it comes to bigger decisions about the direction of the movement, the movers take a decision to hold a vote. The outcome of the vote determines the direction the movement decides to take. The management team is responsible for implementing this decision.
GFM holds monthly general meetings with its movers at the beginning of every month. These meetings are to provide the movers with an overview of where the organization is. That is, with updates on administrative work and progress with new and recurring projects. The financial position of GFM is also discussed at the meetings. At every meeting a mover is giving the 'spotlight', a chance to discuss their business, career and aspirations with the group. The meeting is typically run by the management team.
FOOD MOVER EVENTS
Throughout the year we host 4 networking events that bring our movers together for a night of food and education on a wider food or agriculture related topic. It is also an opportunity to bring them up to speed on the progress with GFM programs and events. Fun for all!
